I remember my grandfather singing this song. It meant a lot to him. He spent 40 years working in his gardens. Every day of his retirement for 20 years he'd be in the garden. He produced the yummiest tomatoes and yellow squash, okra, carrots, and so much more. He had several rose and flower bushes for my grandmother as well. They were married over 60 years.
